Episode 13
Worker of the Week
Kamuran Musker - The final Worker of the Week award goes to Kam because of his work as two of the best new characters of the season. Dr Reckless, who now joins The Joker and The Riddler as great over the top comic book super villains and let’s not forget Scott Sheppard’s grand final celebrations.
Kam gets special mention for the Common Sense Man sketch as it was a really hot day to shoot which was made worse by being in a tin roof garage and the Dr Reckless costume consisted of flannel pants, a long sleeve shirt, a lab coat and a mask.
Honourable Mention
Lara Freestone - Lara receives a mention this week because she was one of three people in the 4-5 minute Common Sense Man sketch, in which everyone worked well. She was also the never flustered, professional Bree from IWT Home Shopping.
Trent Boncompagni - “Fuck them up the arse Vossy. Up the arse. Woo, yeah. Go the Wildcats.” Enough said.
Not Even Close
The Kebab - Talk about taking one for the team. ‘American Kebab’ we salute you with this ‘Not Even Close.’ It should probably be a Honourable Mention but we didn’t want to waste one of those in this tight race for Worker of the Season.
Episode 12
Worker of the Week
Lara Freestone - How can we go past Lara for the award this week? As Janelle, she gave us one of the best pissed off bogan beer can throws I’ve ever seen, hit on Reporter Trent in A Currently Today and continued searching for the truth as reporter-in-peril, Jennifer Love Interest in ‘Common Sense Man.’ Lara also made an uncomfortable appearance in the Responsahol ad.
Honourable Mention
Trent Boncompagni - Receives a mention for doubling up in the A Currently Today story this week as Reporter Trent, who delivered the line “hopefully you” perfectly, and as Mr. Gadros. Trent also kept the party alive as Captain Lampshade Man.
Suzanne McGavin - Suz once again put on the heavy make up and tight tees to play the always sexy Trace Monaro, a character that she plays scarily well. “I’ll see you round like a ball.” She also made an appearance at the Responsahol party in one of the best jokes in the sketch.
Not Even Close
Michael Payne - A surprise ‘Not Even Close’ this week as ‘The Ranty’ was still a good segment but Payney wasn’t fired up enough this time round. Damn it Payney, people pay good money for you to go completely batshit angry and make wild statements you wouldn’t normally make, not casually hand out awards like you’re at the Brownlow Medal count. And before you start, a 10am shoot is no excuse!
Episode 11
Worker of the Week
Trent Boncompagni - Wins this week because of the immortal Mr Gadros, who is becoming the most popular character on IWT. ‘Go Deeper.’ ‘Set Text.’ ‘Thank you gentlemen.’ and it goes on like that. Bet you never thought of the name Amanda like A-Man da. Nether did we.
Honourable Mention
Kamuran Musker - Kam receives a mention this week for his great work in the Scott Sheppard interview on ACT News Active. “I wouldn’t get in a boat with Braith Anasta.” Kam also appeared in Common Sense Man, although all he really had to do was lie on the beach.
Michael Payne - Sure Kam did well in this interview but it would have sucked if Payney hadn’t been, well, Payney. So it’s only fair that he receives a honourable mention for grilling Scott Sheppard on being an overrated wanker.
Not Even Close
God - We don’t shoot that many scenes outside and the reason for this is that we can’t control the weather. The ‘Not Even Close’ for this week is not only for the wind during the ‘Common Sense Man’ shoot but also in previous weeks when we had to postpone The Way Wollongong Was Beaches sketch due to the wind and an ACT sketch in episode 12 during which it started raining. Thanks God.
Episode 10
Worker of the Week
Adam Fredericks - We didn’t even know he was coming over but this is what you get for turning up on a day we’re shooting: Dan Auld trying to force your head onto his lap and complimenting you on your blue eyes. Oh, and appearing in a great sketch and receiving the Worker of The Week.
Honourable Mention
Trent Boncompagni - Receives an Honourable Mention for turning up to shoot the Zombie Frog segment with a hangover. To make matters worse, he had to hang around to shoot ‘A Taste of Dick.’ Trent also appeared as Captain Lampshade Man in the Common Sense Man sketch.
Lara Freestone - How is Lara not on a teen drama after her performance in ‘The OC’ credits? You’ll only see one but she did three great looks. Lara also turned up with a hangover to shoot the Zombie Frog segment - it seems alcohol is the key to working with us - and made her first appearance as Jennifer Love Interest.
Not Even Close
Frank Csapo II - Frank bludged this week. Normally, Frances is at least behind the scenes boom operating but he only boomed for one day on this occasion.
Episode 9
Worker of the Week
Frank Csapo II - Frankie finally wins the big one this week for willingly stuffing up his own name in the football credits even though he hates it. Frank also receives credit for booming on ‘2 Drag Ladies’ which has, in his own words, “scarred me for life.” He also hosted ‘The Way Wollongong Was.’
Honourable Mention
Ben Creagh - Receives the mention because of our ‘if you guest star on the show you’ll probably win unless you already have in which case you’ll get an honourable mention instead’ initiative.
Mark Williamson - A behind the scenes honourable mention this week for Mark who not only supplied the music for the ‘footy credits’, ‘Exorcist’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ but also boomed for us instead doing his homework.
Not Even Close
Suzanne McGavin - Usually a strong cast member, Suz receives her first Not Even Close because the football credits was the first time she had worn her IWT shirt - which she was given in Season 2. It even had the ‘Don’t iron on print’ label still on it.
Episode 8
Worker of the Week
Mark Holland - Anyone who has the balls to play Australian legend John Williamson and a member of the Fanatics in the same sketch deserves to win the Worker of the Week. We hope to see more of Mark, or ‘Jesus’ as he’s known to his disciples, on IWT.
Honourable Mention
Trusty The Tripod - One of the permanent members of Dan Auld’s Sydney crew, Trusty receives the mention this week for the ‘Barmy Army’ sketch. He’s also for recognised for being on hand to film ‘Phil O Sophical’ and a special episode 13 sketch.
Kamuran Musker - Some great work as Scotty Sheppard trying to get out of trouble after being busted for drugs, including the quotable line “Dead set in the fair dinkum department.”
Not Even Close
Korean couple in Vox Pops - Okay, so we brought this one on ourselves by following the Vox Pops rules of interviewing old people and people who don’t really speak English but this couple didn’t even go along with us. As if this segment didn’t have enough problems.
Episode 7
Worker of the Week
Suzanne McGavin - It’s taken a surprising 7 episodes for Suz to finally be awarded a Worker Of The Week and she receives it for keeping the ‘Trav and Trace’ sketch on track with two new bogans as well as stalking celebrities on ‘Stalker TV’ and auditioning for a game show girl by spinning the ‘Tyre of Fortune’ as trailer park princess Mary Sue. Bonus points for the awesome hat.
Honourable Mention
Frank Csapo II - When will Frankie win one? His third mention is for his continuing efforts to educate the viewers in ‘The Way Wollongong Was’ and for the behind the scenes work booming on ‘Trav and Trace.’
Jane Williamson - For learning about half an hour before shooting that she was to be playing Trace’s bogan friend Shandy and doing a fine job acting pissed off at Trav.
Not Even Close
Talking To Strangers - This footage was shot after a long day at Sexpo as ‘let’s just do some random stuff now’ and it shows. Our reaction to Auldy’s vox pops segment is pretty close to real.
Episode 6
Worker of the Week
Michael Payne - The first win for Payney is achieved mainly because this episode is over run by Pat and the Dans and we struggled to find cast members but that’s not to take away anything from Payney’s fantastic sporting moments throughout history. The first Ashes rant is the best one in two and a half seasons.
Honourable Mention
Frank Csapo II - Frank scores an honourable mention for his work as a stand over man in the September 11 sketch. He also receives an award this week for ‘having a nice smile’ and collecting twenty-five house points.
Suzanne McGavin - Receives an honourable mention for much the same reasons as Payney and Frank, I mean, really, all she did was cry. She also gets an award this week for ‘sitting up straight in class and always smiling nicely.’
Not Even Close
Silly String Can - We bought the silly string the morning we shot the ‘Kooky Sidespliterz’ opening because it said ‘68% more silly string’ on the side of the can. 68% more my arse! It ran out way too quickly and was a bitch to clean up off the concrete.
Episode 5
Worker of the Week
Lara Freestone - Lara was great as home shopping presenter Bree getting hustled into buying a jacket and avoiding a soccer game as well as in the straight role of Rebecca Ladd in ‘We’s Be On The TV.’ Lara also appeared as ‘Jill’ in the story retelling.
Honourable Mention
The Socceroos - Thanks for supplying all props for the home shopping sketch - even if I had to sell a kidney to buy it all. This sketch wouldn’t have been made possible without the team or their World Cup Fever over priced merchandise.
Laura Cross - Laura receives her first mention for her performance as Madam Skywatcher in ACT News Active. Those cat-like verbal attacks not only scared Dan but those filming it as well.
Not Even Close
Adam Fredericks - I know he was doing us a favour by appearing in the sketch so this is a hard ‘Not Even Close’ to hand out. Luckily Freddo had the ‘Worker of the Week’ to help him through his cameo. Special mention goes to his goat like “Maaaaan” delivery.
Episode 4
Worker of the Week
Trent Boncompagni - Featuring heavily in this episode Trent played a Police Detective throughout the show - carrying the entire press conference - and had a whole A Currently Today story based on his return. Trent also donned the short shorts to play a small role in ‘What’s Not Good For You… But Works.’
Honourable Mention
Jane Williamson - Phillip Seymor Hoffman was Truman Capote. Jim Carrey was Andy Kaufman. Reese Witherspoon was June Carter. Jane Williamson was Wenda and just like Carrey, Jane was snubbed by the Academy… and us if you think about it.
Suzanne McGavin - Not only does Suz get a mention for playing the always entertaining Trace Monaro.,“That’s really bloody insightful”, but also for making Kam’s day by hanging off him as a hooker.
Not Even Close
Twiggy the Water Skiing Squirrel - So this squirrel can water ski. Big deal! Jinxy the Cat uses the can, Clyde the Monkey hustles people in bars and Tucka the Wonder Chihuahua runs a weekly community access show.
Episode 3
Worker of the Week
Ben Creagh - He wins as part of the ‘If you guest star on the show you’ll probably win’ initiative.
Honourable Mention
Camera 1 - This locked off, unmanned camera wins it for an unintentional shot of Lara, as Kim, serving tea. The shot even made it to air as the other angle we were going to use was taped over. Good work Camera 1, nice shot.
How’s that for a teaser for this sketch? Now you’ll have to watch.
The Car-ma Sutra Guy from Sexpo - For taking the time to explain things to Father Dick while promoting his own book. The Car-ma Sutra Guy also gets a mention for showing a Priest a few of the diagrams in the book and for using the phrase ‘virginal lady friends.’
Not Even Close
Michael Harris - As Phil O Sophical’s bored friend, Harris had the chance to create a sure fire catch phrase that could have been used whenever someone was taking to long to do something. It could have been printed on TV shirts and mugs. Office workers, tradesmen and children in the playground would’ve been using it for months. Instead his less than magical delivery of ‘just take your shot Phil’ has only garnered Harris a ‘Not Even Close.’
Episode 2
Worker of the Week
Mark Williamson - Not only was he Boom Operator in the studio, played ‘Joseph’ in the Super Daddy sketch and did the music for Video Fadz but Mark also took time out of his busy schedule to fill water balloons and throw them at Dan Auld who was wearing Mark’s jacket as a bullet proof vest.
Honourable Mention
Trent Bocompagni - For his excellent performance as Super Daddy. Everything worked, from the awesome moustache to the cut off sentences to beating the hell out of Patrick and Mark Williamson. His motivation for the scene was “you’re beating the hell out of Patrick and Mark Williamson.”
Frank Csapo II - Although Frank nearly put himself in the ‘Not Even Close’ category this week by wearing the same shirt in two totally separate sketches (in his defence, we never intended for them to be in the same show) Frank saved himself by showing his improv genius by using the name ‘Godfrey’ in the Super Daddy sketch.
All you Godfrey’s out there don’t get pissed off at me, some of my best friends are called Godfrey.
Not Even Close
Piss Weak O’ Guyver - This sketch was a good idea that just didn’t work. The graphics are great and the music was fine but we think it was missing an ending. That or laughs.
Episode 1
Worker of the Week
Kamuran Musker - Although everyone in the Scott Sheppard sketch was great, Kamuran wins because he was fantastic as both our IWT party cross host and as new character Scott Sheppard. ‘Handshakes are for strangers.’
I see Kam winning this award a few more times before the end of the season.
Honourable Mention
Josh Moran - For no apparent reason he decided to take his shirt off for the IWT party, yell about going streaking, undo his pants and roll over onto Kam. This may be the first of many appearances for General Goodtimes.
Sam Faiers - An extra in the party cross, Sam doesn’t receive the mention for nearly knocking a ceiling light down with Chris Duda’s head but because it seems he was the one that came up with the name ‘General Goodtimes’
Not Even Close
Lara Freestone - Granted dressing up to play a hooker was awesome and much appreciated but where the hell were you for the rest of this episode?
