Daniel Stawanski and Patrick Williamson officially registered Pass the Popcorn Productions in 2002, but made the short films ‘The Making of Gambling Debt’ which made the final of the ICEPIX film festival, and ‘A Day With The TyTins’ before ‘In Wollongong Tonight.’
Meeting Dan Auld while studying Digital Film and Television Production at JMC Academy, the three began In Wollongong Tonight with Illawarra Community Television (ICTV) a group of local program providers, airing the first season of 15 minute episodes on Satellite Community Television (SCTV). Moving from the channel after submitting and being accepted to free to air channel Television Sydney (TVS), IWT was extended to half an hour episodes for the second and third seasons.
In 2007 In Wollongong Tonight was named ‘Best Comedy Program’ at the Australia-wide community access awards, The Antennas. In 2008 Pass the Popcorn won ‘Best Local Film’ at Short Sited 12 and ‘Best New Talent’ at Cracker Comedy’s Funnybone 500 film festival for their film ‘The Way Wollongong Was.’ Williamson and Stawanski were also the regional winners of the 2007 Perfect Pitch competition.
The three also appeared on stage in a live comedy performance of IWT at ‘The Vault’.
PPP are currently working with Your Online Community producing videos for YOCTV, including ads and covering charities and other events.
Season 4 of In Wollongong Tonight is currently in production.
